Saudi Ambassador to UN: Iranian Strikes on Residential Areas Breach International Law

Saudi Arabia participated in the general debate under Item 2 during the sixty-first session of the Human Rights Council, where its Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ambassador Abdulmohsen bin Khothaila, delivered the Kingdom’s official statement.
In his address, the Ambassador conveyed Saudi Arabia’s strongest condemnation and rejection of what he described as blatant and cowardly Iranian attacks targeting Riyadh and the Kingdom’s Eastern Region, stressing that such actions cannot be justified under any circumstances.
The Kingdom also denounced Iranian strikes against the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and Jordan, characterizing them as a clear violation of national sovereignty, the principles of good neighborliness, international law, and the UN Charter.

The statement underscored that the attacks targeted civilian infrastructure and residential areas, endangering lives and breaching international humanitarian and human rights law, while posing a serious threat to regional stability.
Finally, Saudi Arabia affirmed that it will take all necessary measures to safeguard its security, territory, and population, and called on the international community to firmly condemn the attacks given their grave implications for regional and global peace.
