Rock slides occur in Saudi Arabia due to rains
In the Saudi Fifa Mountains in the Jazan region, a professional team of geological engineers and specialists from the Geological Hazards Center of the Saudi Geological Survey began their work in (Al-Shakhos).
In collaboration with the local authorities who were concerned, they pinpointed the locations of the rockslides that were a result of the rain that occurred on Thursday evening as news of the slides spread around the city.
Field geological and geo-engineering data and information were recorded; also, observations and rain damage were recorded in the affected area.
After considering the causes and coming up with technical suggestions to reduce the risks of mountain avalanches, work is being done to submit the technical report to the appropriate authorities.
The Geological Survey Authority’s role in preventing geological hazards and formulating useful recommendations to reduce the risks of the numerous rock slides that occur in the southern region is the basis for this work.
