Righters House Partners with Netflix to Boost Saudi Film Industry

Netflix has collaborated with Saudi Arabia’s creative hub Righters House to unveil Write the Future — Feature Film Writers Lab, a groundbreaking screenwriting program seeking to elevate emerging Saudi talent and foster the Kingdom’s film industry, according to Arab News.

The three‑month program will roll out across Asir, Al Madinah, and the Eastern Province, delivering professional training and mentorship directly to local creative communities.

The lab will empower 18 selected participants through a series of online masterclasses, in‑person writers’ workshops, and intensive pitch preparation sessions.

Pelin Mavili, Netflix’s director of global affairs for the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, underscored that investing in writers is significant to building a sustainable creative ecosystem.

“Screenwriting is at the heart of storytelling, and investing in writers is one of the most meaningful ways we can support the future of storytelling … we are focused on building skills, creating access to industry expertise, and supporting emerging voices across Saudi Arabia,” she said.

Conducted in Arabic, the program will culminate with each participant introducing a comprehensive feature-film development package, providing them with the tools that take their projects into the next stage of production. That package will feature a logline, synopsis, treatment, pitch deck, and a recorded pitch.

Rulan Hasan, co-founder and head of content at Righters House, described the partnership as “a strategic step” to empower writers in the Kingdom with global storytelling tools.

Therefore, it significantly bridges the gap between creative potential and professional industry standards.
