OpenAI Reinstates Altamn as CEO

Sam Altman has returned to openAI, announced OpenAI on X.

The company added that there will be ” a new initial board of Bret Taylor (Chair), Larry Summers, and Adam D’Angelo”.

The announcement halted days of chaos on who should run OpenAI and how should it be run.

Ousting Sam Altman

 

The board ousted Altman, claiming that he was not ” consistently candid in his communications”.

Altman’s ouster sparked employee revolt, as employees were threating to quit if Altman isn’t reinstated. Consequently, this provoked revolt was threatening the leading company.

Days after the provoked revolt, the company agreed to reinstate him as CEO of OpenAI.

 

Sam Altman’s Negotiations with OpenAI

 

Sam Altman, together with board of OpenAI, were discussing his potential return. These talks involved the interim CEO and board members.

The negotiations include CEO Emmett Shear and board member Adam D’Angelo. Some investors are also advocating for Altman’s return.

Major shareholders like Thrive Capital and Khosla Ventures favored Altman’s return. Sequoia Capital was also reportedly part of this coalition.

The company’s VP, Anna Makanju, informed staff about the ongoing discussions.
