OIC welcomes the establishment of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council
The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), His Excellency Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, welcomed the issuance of the Yemeni President, Mr. Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, a declaration establishing a presidential leadership council to administer the state, following the Yemeni constitution and the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms.
The Secretary-General expressed his hope that this declaration would contribute to creating the conditions for an end to the fighting in Yemen and supporting negotiations between all Yemeni parties to reach a comprehensive political solution that would achieve peace, security, and stability in all parts of Yemen.
The Secretary-General also valued the initiative of the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates to provide urgent assistance to the Yemeni economy for $3 billion and reiterated the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s support for the efforts made to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue and relevant Security Council resolutions.
