The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is set to hold an emergency meeting of foreign ministers on Thursday to discuss the recent Israeli measures, according to Ashraq Al-Awsat.
Set to take place at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah, the meeting will address Israeli settlement expansion, annexation moves, and efforts to assert sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.
The emergency ministerial meeting will seek to unify member states’ positions and agree on a series of collective measures to encounter Israel’s actions.
Israel has recently moved to initiate land settlement procedures in the West Bank under the pretext of “state land,” a decision that has drawn widespread condemnation from regional countries and across the world.
Israel’s security cabinet has approved measures aimed at strengthening control over the occupied territory, paving the way for further settlement expansion.
Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced new measures this month, lifting decades-old restrictions preventing Jewish citizens from purchasing land in the West Bank.
The measures also feature the transfer of authority over settlement building permits in parts of Palestinian cities—including Hebron—from Palestinian Authority municipal bodies to Israeli control.
The OIC described these decisions as being part of a sustained campaign to alter the legal, political, and demographic fabric of the Palestinian territories.
It added that these measures also undermine the viability of a two‑state solution.
