OIC condemns the bombing of a mosque in Kabul

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) expressed its strong condemnation of the deadly bombing that took place last Wednesday, targeting a mosque in the vicinity of the Ministry of Interior compound in Kabul.

It expressed its deep concern about the wave of repeated brutal attacks that deliberately target civilian and official facilities in various parts of Afghanistan.

The organization also expressed its sincere sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the wounded, while emphasizing its repeated calls on the de-facto authorities in Kabul to effectively confront the hotbeds of violence that threaten to widen the circle of escalating insecurity unless they are managed effectively and convincingly.

The explosion occurred on Wednesday at the Ministry’s mosque, coinciding with officials performing the noon prayer inside the compound in Kabul.

The number of attacks in Afghanistan has decreased since the Taliban seized power a year ago, but the attacks have not stopped.

Numerous attacks took place in the past two months, and the country witnessed a series of booby-trapped attacks in late April, during the month of Ramadan, as well as in late May, killing dozens of people.
