New Chapter Unfolds: Riyadh Hosts Saudi-Canadian Forum

Riyadh hosted the first Saudi-Canadian Forum for Educational Partnership on Tuesday to enhance the educational relations between the Kingdom and Canada, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The forum represents a collaborative effort between the Saudi Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan and the Canadian Ambassador to KSA Jean-Philippe Linteau.

The occasion saw the convergence of over 70 Saudi entities, and 40 Canadian entities, including ministries, institutions, universities, and companies.

The landmark event aims at fostering the educational partnerships between Canada and the Kingdom and unleashing new opportunities across the Kingdom.

Al-Benyan underscored the significance of education in achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 by enhancing the students’ capabilities to compete globally.

He mentioned his recent visit to Canada and clarified that he has explored numerous opportunities for cooperation with Canada.

They include partnerships to elevate the general and higher education, early childhood programs, teacher training and development, in addition to medical and technical vocational training programs.

On his part, Linteau confirmed Canada’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s move towards a prosperous future for the upcoming generations.

The forum offered a valuable opportunity for communicating and discussing the development of joint research, technical training, curriculum development and establishing external centers.

“Canada is cooperating with the Kingdom to enhance their relations in educational fields based on the crucial role education plays in human development,” Linteau added.

The Saudi-Canadian Forum stands as a testament to Saudi Arabia’s proactive stance on educational cooperation to enhance various sectors such as: information technology, tourism, health care, clean energy, mining, and agriculture.

By bringing together a diverse group of educational institutions, the forum aims to catalyze action towards achieving a significant knowledge-based economy as described in Saudi Vision 2030.
