NEOM establishes the first public grid for vertical electric mobility
The NEOM Company has announced the formation of a company to design, build, and run the world’s first public grid for vertical electric mobility on demand.
The joint venture will incorporate air taxi services and logistics services with the NEOM system for multimodal, emissions-free public transportation, in collaboration with Volocopter.
Eng. Nazmi Al-Nasr, NEOM’s CEO, affirmed that the new company will be the only operator of NEOM’s principal public transportation routes.
It will allow the eVTOL system to deliver vertical mobility services such as logistics, emergency transportation, and tourism.
NEOM has ordered 15 Volocopters to begin initial flight operations within two to three years.
“Volocopter is a global leader in innovation in the eVTOL market in the electric mobility sector,” stated Florian Lennert, NEOM’s Head of Mobility.
