The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the launch of three new shipping services, operated by global maritime leader Maersk, at Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The addition of these services stands as a testament to the Kingdom’s growing position as a pivotal maritime trade destination, further boosting its strategic connectivity and fostering its competitiveness across regional and global markets.
With a substantial handling capacity of up to 14,400 TEUs, the new shipping services will operate a route encompassing Nhava Sheva Port and Mundra Port in India, alongside Port of Salalah and King Abdullah Port, before completing the circuit back to Jeddah.
This initiative stands out as an integral part of Mawani’s broader efforts to elevate the Kingdom’s standing in global performance indices, streamline the flow of national exports, and advance the ambitious goals of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics.
Jeddah Islamic Port boasts 62 multi-purpose berths and a dedicated logistics zone for bonded storage and re-export, complemented by a direct truck transport system.
The port also features specialized terminals with advanced handling equipment, including two container terminals and marine service berths, with a total handling capacity of up to 130 million tons annually.
