Mawani Adds 5 Shipping Services to 3 Ports

The General Ports Authority “Mawani” announced the addition of 5 new shipping services belonging to Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk to the Jeddah Islamic Port, King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, and Jubail Commercial Port, which strengthens the position of the Kingdom’s pivotal ports and raises their competitiveness at the regional and international levels.

This is a part of Mawani’s efforts to enhance the Kingdom’s position in the maritime navigation network connectivity index, and to enhance the effectiveness of linking the Kingdom to global markets, in line with the objectives of the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics. Additionally, it aims to consolidate the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and a hub for connecting the three continents.

The new shipping services link the Jeddah Islamic Port, the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, and the Jubail Commercial Port with the ports of: Port Said in Egypt, Tangier in Morocco, Algeciras in Spain, Aqaba in Jordan, Jebel Ali in the Emirates, Mundar and Bibafaf in India, Salalah in Oman, with a total capacity of 19,869 TEU.
Moreover, navigational services contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of Saudi ports and improving their ability to support the movement of national exports and imports, which contributes to facilitating global trade and opening new horizons for business.
Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk
It is noteworthy that the Jeddah Islamic Port was chosen as the center of the “Gemini” alliance between the companies “Hapag-Lloyd” and “Maersk”, which strengthens the position of Saudi ports as a logistical hub linking the three continents. This also raises the efficiency of goods handling, stimulates commercial movement and stimulates economic growth.
