In a major milestone for Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to become a global AI hub, Groq—working in partnership with Meta—has launched the latest large language model, Llama 4, leveraging its cutting-edge infrastructure in Dammam.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology announced that this move aligns with the Kingdom’s strategic vision to lead in digital innovation and emerging technologies across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. Moreover, following Meta’s exclusive release of its open-source AI models, Llama 4 Scout and Maverick, on GroqCloud in Saudi Arabia, developers in the region now have full access to the latest generation of open-source AI tools.
Llama 4 is now serving users across MENA and Europe, delivering high-performance AI inference capabilities and expanding access to advanced generative technologies. The launch marks a significant step in positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in AI infrastructure, following the February activation of the region’s largest inference cluster in Dammam.
Groq founder and CEO Jonathan Ross stated, “We built Groq to reduce compute costs to near zero, and with Llama 4, we’re providing unmatched inference speed and efficiency—without compromise.”
Tariq Amin added, “Integrating Llama 4 with Groq’s platform represents a major leap in Saudi Arabia’s path toward technological leadership.”
At LEAP 2025, Groq further announced a $1.5 billion investment, in collaboration with Aramco Digital, to establish the world’s largest AI inference center in the Kingdom. Finally, this initiative will scale Groq’s infrastructure, expand GroqCloud services, and enable processing of billions of tokens daily.
