KSrelief Organizes Conference on 30th Anniversary of Conjoined Twins Saudi Program

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) is organizing an international conference on the 30th anniversary of the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins in Riyadh on November 24 and 25, reported Al Arabiya.

The ministries of National Guard, Defense, Foreign Affairs, Health, Education, media and a number of interested parties working in the medical and humanitarian field will participate in the conference.

Moreover, a group of twins accompanied by their relatives from several countries, who had previously undergone separation operations will attend the conference.

The two-day conference will include humanitarian and scientific sessions, an exhibition, and accompanying events that highlight the Kingdom’s international leadership in the humanitarian field, and medical excellence, especially excellence through the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins.

Separating conjoined twins is one of the pioneering fields in which the Kingdom has achieved great success.

The Saudi medical and surgical team for the separation of conjoined twins successfully separated the Nigerian conjoined twins Hasna and Husna last February. The operation took place at King Abdullah Specialized Children Hospital at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, reported News 24.

Last year, the Saudi medical team successfully separated the two Tanzanian conjoined twins, Hassan and Hussein Omari Saidi, through a complex operation that lasted for 16 hours.

The surgery was expected to last 16 hours. It had 9 stages. 35 consultants. Specialists from the departments of anesthesia, pediatric surgery, pediatric urology, plastic surgery and orthopedic surgery participated in the operation.

The operation was done under the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.
