KSA Keeps careful Eye on International Fallout Regarding UNRWA Employees
KSA is monitoring the Global Fallout of UNRWA personnel in Gaza, as stated today by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
It stressed the significance of strengthening the investigation processes into these claims to provide facts and supporting documents.
KSA’s Announcements about UNRWA Personnel in Gaza
KSA highlighted the humanitarian sacrifices made by UNRWA employees resulted in the deaths of workers and the injuries of others.
In a statement, MFA said: “The Kingdom calls on all UNRWA supporters to fulfill their responsibility by aiding humanitarian efforts for Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip.”
MFA emphasized that the agency must continue to carry out its duties to guarantee provision of necessities for the Palestinians. Providing humanitarian aid will lessen the impact of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, according to MFA.
KSA declared its deep concern about the Israeli occupation forces’ egregious violations of international humanitarian law and international law.
It affirmed that Israel’s disrespect of international law has caused the humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip to deteriorate.
Reasons of Suspending Funding to UNRWA
Notably, several Western countries suspended UNRWA funding last Saturday. This happened after Israel accused UNRWA agency staff of being complicit in the October 7 offensive attack.
Israel stated that it wants to guarantee that UNRWA will not be part of the phase that follows the battle running now. It declared its desire to prevent all the agency’s operations in Gaza.
UNRWA’s Role in Gaza
UNRWA is the main humanitarian organization in Gaza, serving more than 2 million people who rely on it for basic existence.
The organization shelters over a million people, and supplies food and basic healthcare, even during the height of hostilities.
Dangerous Effects of Global Fallout of UNRWA Personnel in Gaza
Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, stated that the continued humanitarian efforts in the Gaza Strip are at risk due to the funding suspension.
Lex Takkenberg, Senior Advisor on the Question of Palestine Program, talked about the negative impact of the suspension decision.
He said that cutting off money and support would worsen the situation in the Gaza Strip.
Additionally, he said that Israel didn’t provide any proof that UNRWA had engaged in sabotage.
