KSA to launch comedy competition to discover Saudi talents
The Theater and Performing Arts Development Authority announced the launch of a national competition entitled “Comedy Competition” To discover talents specialized in providing live or recorded comedy shows.
The competition targets talented young men and women between the ages of 18-35 years in the field of comedy and those interested in the comic arts.
Comedy competition stages
The competition passes through several main stages following the registration stage, which is “the stage of the initial performance trials in the city previously chosen by the contestant, followed by the stage of offers of areas, which the authority divided into five geographical areas at the level of the Kingdom.”
These areas include the central region (Hail, Unaizah, and Riyadh), the northern region (Al-Jawf and Tabuk), the southern region (Jazan, Khamis Mushait, Abha), and the eastern region (Hofuf, Qatif, Dammam, Khobar), as well as the western region, Medina, Taif, and Jeddah.
After that, the comedy competition enters the “semi-final stage”, through which 20 candidates qualify for a semi-final camp to be held in Jeddah from September 29 to October 2,
This will be followed by the “semi-final stage”, which will be held from 3 to 13 October, and will see 5 candidates qualify for the final ceremony to be held in Riyadh, during which the names of the winners will be announced.
The first-place winner will receive a financial prize of 35,000 riyals, the second place will receive 20,000 riyals, and the third-place winner will receive 15,000 riyals.
The Comedy Competition is one of the talent discovery initiatives that fall within the initiatives of the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
The authority seeks to provide the opportunity for young men and women to invest their comedic talents under the guidance of comedy industry experts.
