KSA to Build King Salman International Airport
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is building one of the largest airports in the world, reported Economic Events on X. King Salman International Airport, located in Riyadh, will boast six massive parallel runways.
It is expected to accommodate 120 million travelers annually, making it the largest in the world in terms of passenger numbers.
King Salman International Airport’s Master Plan
In 2022, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched the master plan for the new King Salman International Airport in Riyadh. He expects the project to contribute approximately 27 billion Riyals ($7.2 billion) annually to the Kingdom’s non-oil economy.
King Salman Airport will be one of the largest airports in the world, covering an area of approximately 57 square kilometers. It will include the current terminals under the name of King Khalid terminals, and six runways, in addition to 12 square kilometers of ancillary facilities.
Moreover, it will include recreational areas, commercial outlets, and numerous logistical facilities.
King Abdulaziz Airport
King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah opened the international transit zone, according to Alekhbariya.
Nearly 27 bodies worked together on establishing and preparing this colossal zone to receive up to 1500 travelers per hour. Among those bodies are Jeddah Airports Company (JedCo) and security bodies. Moreover, the Ministry of Health provided a clinic to provide health services to the zone’s visitors.
The new zone includes 10 counters to complete the travelers’ procedure swiftly and easily.
Staggering Number of Travelers
Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) witnessed an astonishing surge in passenger levels during the year 2023. With a remarkable 36% increase in passenger traffic, KAIA achieved an all-time high, solidifying its position as a key transportation hub in the region.
