KSA Donates $8 Mln to Rescue FSO Safer
Saudi Arabia announced an extra $8 million donation to continue rescuing the FSO Safer oil tanker, as per SPA. This aims to counter environmental and economic threats to Yemen’s west coast.
Agreement Signing by KSrelief
KSrelief’s Assistant Supervisor General, Ahmed Al-Bayez, signed the agreement of the donation with UNDP’s Regional Director for Arab States, Abdallah Al-Dardari.
This additional funding marks Saudi Arabia’s efforts to mitigate environmental and economic threats from the oil tanker.
Al-Dardari’s Commendation
Al-Dardari praised Saudi Arabia’s significant role in addressing the oil tanker issue. He said that this role helped UNDP achieve positive results.
Progress in Resolving the FSO Safer Issue
Al-Dardari highlighted major progress in the FSO Safer rescue operation. This includes transferring oil from the corroding tanker to a new one and discussing the best solution for remaining oil and how to use its revenues.
