On Monday, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry welcomed the Pakistan-Iran deal to defuse tensions and re-establish diplomatic relations after the two nations launched missile and drone attacks inside each other’s borders.

Pakistan-Iran Deal: Efforts to resolve disagreements

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Abdollahian and his Pakistani counterpart, Jalil Gilani, spoke over the phone yesterday to defuse the conflict and reach a deal to de-escalate the conflict.

They discussed the matter of the two nations’ ambassadors returning, as stated by Mehr Agency.

Mehr Agency reported that both ministers talked about restoring relations to a higher level.

On Friday, the office of the Pakistani Prime Minister emphasized that communication and diplomacy may resolve Pakistan and Iran disputes.

According to Reuters, the PM emphasized that Pakistan would accept and match any constructive actions made by the Iranian side.

Iran-Pakistan conflict

Notably, Iran launched a drone and missile strike last Tuesday, killing two children.

As a response to this strike, Pakistan attacked Iran in retaliation, killing nine people in the process.

However, the Iranian FM revealed to his Pakistani counterpart that the government didn’t know about the Revolutionary Guard’s attacks on the neighboring state.

Furthermore, Abdollahian assured that the Revolutionary Guard acted without notifying him.

Conversely, Pakistan’s FM emphasized to his counterpart that Pakistan is ready to collaborate with Tehran.

He affirmed that Pakistan is willing to have a deal with Iran if there is mutual trust and understanding.

Tehran and Islamabad frequently accuse each other of enabling militants from the “Army of Justice or the Balochistan Liberation Army” to launch attacks on the other nation’s territory.

However, these accusations rarely result in direct military intervention by one party against another.
