The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, received on Thursday a written letter from the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The letter addressed the relations between Saudi Arabia and Venezuela and ways to further enhance joint cooperation in various fields.
During a reception at the Saudi Foreign Ministry in Riyadh, the Venezuelan Ambassador to the Kingdom, David Velasquez Caraballo, handled the letter to the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and Public Diplomacy, Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi.
Al-Rassi received the letter on behalf of the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, who is on a visit to Iraq.
Al-Rassi and Caraballo reviewed relations between the two countries and explored ways to strengthen and develop them across all sectors. Moreover, both officials discussed issues of common interest.
In July, Maduro won his third consecutive term as the president of Venezuela. The National Electoral Council, the country’s electoral authority, declared that Maduro had secured a 51% of the vote, to 44% for opposition candidate Edmundo González.
