Jalawi Honors Winners at King’s Camel Festival
Prince Fahd bin Jalawi, chairman of the Saudi Camel Federation, crowned the camel owners from the UAE and Qatar as winners of the first titles in the “Haqa’iq” category at the King Salman bin Abdulaziz Camel Festival.
The festival, which began yesterday, taking place at the Janadriyah field in Riyadh, will continue until February 18th.
Winning Entries
The camel “Al Faydah” from the UAE’s presidency won the first race “Bakar – Open”, and “Mawajah”, owned by Emirati Saif Al Afari, won the second race “Qa’dan – Open”. From Qatar, “Al Wajbah”, owned by Mohammed Al Kaabi, won the third race “Bakar – General”, and “Jabbar”, owned by Qatari Salem Al Jarbou, secured the “Qa’dan – General” race. “Jabbar” also achieved the best timing in the “Haqa’iq” competitions over two days, with a record time of 5:48.50 minutes.
Participation, Achievements
A total of 2583 camels raced in “Haqa’iq”, with 1369 on day one and 1187 on day two. The US won on day two with Qasim Abu Nasr’s “Ghadah”, the “Saudi Bronx”. Saudi owners lead with 26 titles, the UAE has 19, Qatar 14, followed by Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the USA.
