IN LINE WITH PREVIOUS PLANS: PRINCE KHALID BIN SALMAN
The Kingdom on Monday proposed a new peace initiative to end the conflict in Yemen. To this, Prince Khalid bin Salman, Vice Defense Minister, said, “The Saudi peace initiative for Yemen is in line with the previous plans.”
“Saudi Arabia’s recent announcement of a peace initiative to end the ongoing conflict is according to the previous proposals and demonstrates Riyadh’s interest in the stability and the security of Yemen,” added the Deputy Defense Minister. Further, he said, “ We will continue to defend our people, land, and borders, and we will continue to support the Yemeni government and its armed forces against the Houthi aggression.”
In the recent announcement, the Kingdom seeks to establish peace in the country by reaching a comprehensive political settlement.
In addition, United States appreciated Saudi Arabia’s ceasefire initiative.
“We can on all parties to commit seriously to a ceasefire immediately and engage in negotiations under the auspices of the UN,” a State Department official said.
