GEA Extends Ticket Capacity for ‘Riyadh Season Card Wembley Edition’ Boxing to 96,000
Turki Al-Shikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), announced that the seating capacity for the “Riyadh Season Card Wembley Edition” boxing matches has been expanded to 96,000 spectators.
The headline event will see Daniel Dubois defend his IBF heavyweight title against two-time former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. The bout is set for Saturday, September 21.
General admission tickets for the inaugural Riyadh Season 2024 boxing event in London were previously sold out. However, due to approval for an increase in ticket availability at the iconic stadium, additional tickets will go on sale tomorrow at 12 noon UK time through Ticketmaster.com. The main Riyadh Season card in London will showcase an all-British lineup of six fights.
The event is expected to be the largest boxing event in Wembley Stadium’s history, setting a new record for the United Kingdom and Europe. Additionally, attendance is set to surpass the previous record of 94,000 spectators. It was achieved during Tyson Fury’s fight against Dillian Whyte at the same stadium in April 2022.
In addition to the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois bout for the IBF heavyweight title. The fight card will feature Anthony Cacace facing Josh Warrington for the IBF super-featherweight title. Also on the card is a clash between Joshua Buatsi and Willie Hutchinson for the WBO interim light heavyweight title.
The lineup includes Tyler Denny against Hamza Sheeraz at welterweight, Liam Smith versus Josh Kelly at super welterweight, and Mark Chamberlain taking on Josh Padley at lightweight. This highly anticipated event will be available via pay-per-view on DAZN, Sky Sports, and TNT Sports.
