Factories’ toll in Saudi Arabia reach 10,819 in 2023 Q1: Saudi Industry Ministry
The Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced that the number of factories in the Kingdom until the end of the first quarter of 2023 amounted to 10,819 factories, with an estimated capital of SAR 1.432 trillion, led in terms of investment volume by factories operating in the manufacture of chemical products, then factories for non-metallic mineral products.
The ministry said, in its bulletin on the indicators of the industrial sector during the first quarter of 2023, reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) today, Wednesday, that national factories lead factories according to the type of investment with more than 83.5%, followed by foreign factories with a rate of 8.5%, then factories with joint investment with a percentage of 8%.
It pointed out that the Riyadh region recorded the most significant percentage of the total number of factories, with about 4000 and 194 factories. This was followed by the eastern part with 2476 factories, then the Makkah region with 2068.
It showed that small factories represented the largest percentage of the total factories at the end of the period. They reached 5,000 and 654 factories, followed by medium factories at 4,000 and 341, then large factories accounted for 824 of the total factories.
According to the bulletin, foreign investment in the Kingdom’s factories represents 8.5% of the existing factories. The number of foreign factories in the Kingdom is 920, with an investment volume of SAR 71283 billion.
