Expanded Abha Airport to Enhance KSA as Global Logistics Center

The expansion plan of Abha International Airport will prominently contribute to enhancing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center that connects the three countries, said the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Al-Jasser, adding that this plan will support the objectives of National Transport and Logistic strategy.
It will further enable the pioneering national strategies of other sectors like trade, industry and tourism to achieve their ambitious strategies and sustainable development.
Al-Jasser stated that the renovated Abha Airport will be a prominent landmark and a model of transport that will develop the logistic services industry and enhance aviation economies according to objectives of civil aviation strategy.
The civil aviation strategy aims to increase destinations to more than 250 international destinations, transport 330 million travelers and double the capacity of air freight to reach more than 4.5 million tons.
The Minister thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Crown Prince for unveiling the expansion plan of Abha International Airport.
Abha Airport Expansion Plan
The 10-thousand-square-meters Abha Airport will be expanded to cover 65 thousand square meters with 20 gates, 41 check-in counters and seven self-service check-in desks. A passenger boarding bridge and high-capacity parking areas will be built.
The renovation plan aims to increase the number of flights to 90 thousand annually, up from 30 thousand flights now.
