Dr. Amr Hassan, an assistant professor at the Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, confirmed that Egypt’s population increased by one million in 9 months and 5 days, with 2.2 million births in the previous year.
During his appearance on the Sada Al-Balad channel’s “Sabah Al-Balad” show, he stated that the number of births in Egypt annually reaches 2 million, accounting for roughly half of the births on the European continent, which has a total of 5 million children.
He continued that the population problem is the main problem, due to the increase in slums and unplanned housing and the decrease in the quality of education.
Dr. Amr Hassan, confirmed that Egypt is the 14th most populous country in the world, first in the Arab world, and third in Africa following Nigeria and Ethiopia.
He stated that Egypt will become the sixth most populous country in the world between 2018 and 2050, with a population rise of 69.5 million people.
