Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the 10th Special Olympics Middle East and North Africa Regional Beach Games in Hammamet, Tunisia, with two silver medals and a fourth-place finish overall.
The event, held from June 16 to 22, featured competition in unified beach volleyball, unified triathlon and open-water swimming.
Saudi Arabia’s first silver medal came in unified beach volleyball after the team advanced to the final before losing to the United Arab Emirates.

A second silver followed in the unified triathlon, while swimmer Mohammed Al-Olayan placed fourth in one of the competition’s most challenging open-water races.
Talal Al-Humaidan, director of communications and partnerships at the Saudi Special Olympics Federation, said the tournament provided valuable competitive experience and technical development for the athletes.
He said the regional games offered an opportunity to sharpen skills against competitors from across the Middle East and North Africa, while also promoting inclusion and strengthening ties among participants.

Al-Humaidan said the event represented another step in the federation’s efforts to enhance athlete performance and prepare competitors for future international events.
He added that the results reflected ongoing work to develop athletes and support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in representing Saudi Arabia on the international stage.
