The Special Olympics Leadership Academy officially launched yesterday in Jeddah, hosted by Special Olympics Saudi Arabia, marking the first time the academy has been held in the Middle East and North Africa. The inaugural program brings together 25 emerging leaders from eight countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Algeria.
Designed to equip leaders with the skills needed to advance the Special Olympics movement, the academy offers a comprehensive curriculum delivered by international experts in leadership and institutional development.
The opening day featured focused sessions on self-awareness and behavioral intelligence to support effective decision-making, purposeful dialogue to strengthen meaningful leadership conversations, and institutional leadership, highlighting the transition from self-leadership to organizational impact.
Throughout the program, participants will also explore personal leadership branding, resilience, and productivity, empowering them to drive positive change at both professional and institutional levels.
The launch of the Special Olympics Leadership Academy is part of a three-year initiative aimed at developing inclusive leaders who can create sustainable impact across the movement and enhance programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
