Eastern Province Prince Inaugurates Dammam’s Global City

Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, inaugurated today, Monday, the “Global City” project in Dammam. The project is considered one of the region’s distinctive investment initiatives in the fields of tourism, entertainment, and culture.

The inauguration was attended by His Excellency the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Eng. Fahd bin Mohammed Al-Jubair, a number of officials and leaders, and the project’s investors from the Kingdom of Thailand. During the event, His Highness conducted a field tour and reviewed the project’s components and various facilities.

Global City

HRH the Governor of the Eastern Province emphasized that the “Global City” project embodies a modern investment approach that reflects the promising economic and tourism potential of the region.

He noted that such projects contribute to diversifying economic activities, enhancing the attractiveness of cities, and creating new investment and employment opportunities, in addition to improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.

His Highness pointed out that the Eastern Province enjoys a strategic location, advanced infrastructure, and diverse investment opportunities, making it an attractive environment for major projects and capable of attracting investments at the local, regional, and international levels.

On his part, His Excellency the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Eng. Fahd bin Mohammed Al-Jubair, expressed his thanks and appreciation to HRH the Governor for inaugurating the project, affirming that “Global City” represents a qualitative addition to the tourism and entertainment ecosystem in the region.

He noted that it contributes to strengthening Dammam’s position as an attractive destination for investment and leisure, and supports the growing economic momentum.

He explained that the project aligns with urban development strategies aimed at engaging the private sector in developing high-quality projects and attracting local, Gulf, and international investors, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the Eastern Province and improving the efficiency of tourism and entertainment services.

Additionally, this is supported by the region’s geographical location and the significant progress achieved in quality-of-life indicators.

World Civilizations

He further stated that the “Global City” project is distinguished by its cultural and entertainment character, bringing together the civilizations of countries from around the world in one location. This is achieved through international pavilions that reflect each country’s identity in architecture, cuisine, and heritage products, offering visitors an integrated cultural experience suitable for all age groups.

The project also spans a total area exceeding 650,000 square meters, with the first phase covering approximately 250,000 square meters. The first phase includes the completion of 15 international pavilions representing countries from the Arabian Gulf, Asia, Europe, and Africa, bringing the total number of participating countries to 16, distributed across zones reflecting their diverse cultures.

The project includes a central artificial lake covering approximately 200,000 square meters, serving as a hub for events and tourism and entertainment activities.

It also features a floating market, an open-air theater accommodating around 7,000 visitors with the potential to increase capacity to 10,000, a modern amusement park covering about 15,000 square meters, a variety of restaurants, cafés, and markets, as well as pedestrian walkways that enhance the visitor experience.

The project also incorporates integrated infrastructure, including three main entrances and parking facilities accommodating more than 3,000 vehicles, ensuring ease of access and smooth visitor flow.

The “Global City” project is being implemented in three phases. The first phase focuses on entertainment and festival areas. It includes approximately 16 international pavilions and around 11 restaurants offering a mix of Arabic, Asian, and international cuisines.

It also features themed districts such as the Chinese Quarter, Indian Alley, and Central Food Street, in addition to carnival games, electronic skill games, live performances, a small zoo, and a light park.

New Pavilions

The second phase will involve expansion through the addition of new pavilions, show areas, and diverse restaurants, as well as the establishment of a fully integrated water park featuring water slides, wave pools, and lazy rivers suitable for all ages.

The third phase will culminate in the development of the Global Arena as an integrated complex for exhibitions and entertainment events supported by the latest display technologies, in addition to the development of a modern, fully integrated residential district that will contribute to the project’s long-term sustainability.

The “Global City” project is considered an important economic and tourism driver for the Eastern Province, as it represents a qualitative addition that enhances the status of Dammam as a prominent urban and tourism destination in the Arabian Gulf.

Finally, it is expected to attract approximately 25,000 visitors daily once all facilities are fully operational, in addition to stimulating economic activity and providing high-quality employment opportunities.
