Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region Municipality has announced plans for “Global City Dammam,” a significant investment project developed in collaboration with a Thai investor. This initiative represents a major advancement in the region’s entertainment, cultural, and tourism sectors.
A Modern and Innovative Design
According to Faisal Al-Zahrani, spokesperson for the Eastern Region Municipality, the project boasts a modern and innovative design that seamlessly integrates entertainment, tourism, culture, and commerce. The city will feature dedicated pavilions for 16 countries, each showcasing its unique culture and traditions. Visitors can enjoy a rich cultural and culinary experience, as every pavilion will include a restaurant offering cuisine representative of that country.
The city will revolve around an artificial lake, enhancing its aesthetic and tourism appeal. Key attractions include a floating market built on the lake and an open-air theatre with a seating capacity of 7,000, expandable to 10,000 for major events. Additionally, the project will feature a fully equipped entertainment zone covering over 17,000 sq m. Families will enjoy a large open-air skating plaza, several international restaurants, and a variety of family-friendly activities, making it a major entertainment destination in the region.
Investment and Development
Global City Dammam will span more than 600,000 sq m, divided between land and water areas, with the initial investment for the first phase will be SAR200 million, with the total project value expected to reach SAR650 million upon completion of all phases. Studies conducted by the municipality in collaboration with the investor support these projections.
Al-Zahrani emphasized that the project is poised to become a major tourism destination for visitors from within the Kingdom and abroad. Leveraging Dammam’s strategic location near Gulf countries, Global City Dammam aims to attract tourists and boost the local economy.
