Pia Babnik
Slovenian Pia Babnik, winner of the Aramco Team Series in Jeddah in 2021, has captured the first spot achieving blemish-free start to the week.
She secured seven birdies – including three in a row from the sixth.
Therefore, she topped the leaderboard and gears up for a first Ladies European Tour win since 2021.
Charley Hull
The English Charley Hull has rocked the first round with a strong start to end her two-year worldwide winless run by capturing a share of Riyadh’s lead.
Hull is pursuing her first worldwide victory since the Volunteers of America Classic on the LPGA Tour in October 2022.
Interestingly, the English star has achieved a thriving opening day with a seven-under 65 in the final tournament at Riyadh Golf Club.
Today, she moved to 12 under and lies in second spot in the second round, as Babnik opened a two-shot lead after a second successive 65.
“It’s a fun golf course to play,” Hull said. “I like chasing, it’s more fun. I think I’m playing with Pia tomorrow who is leading so I’m sure I’ll get a rough idea of what I need to do. I’m just going to try and play lights out. Two years isn’t that long but of course you always want to win. I’m looking forward to tomorrow,” Hull said.
Chiara Tamburlini
As for the team competition, the Swiss superstar golfer Chiara Tamburlini claimed a dominant 10-stroke victory.
Her group consists of Anne-Charlotte Mora, Mimi Rhodes and amateur Teniel Chu – who contributed with an incredible 11 net birdies to the team score.
“Moving day is basically the first day. You have to come out and make a fast start and that’s more fun to watch. I like watching sport myself and it’s always exciting to see people having fun and cheering each other on. That’s definitely got to be a positive for the women’s game,” she said.
