Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers: Omicron poses great challenges
The work of the 41st session of the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers, the Conference of Ministers of Development and Social Affairs, and the Arab Ministerial Councils Concerned with the Social Sectors of Arab Social Affairs Ministers started last week, in the capital, Riyadh.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took over its presidency from the UAE.
At the beginning of the coordinating opening session of the session, Dr. Abdullah Al-Wahaibi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development for Rehabilitation and Social Guidance in the Kingdom, stressed that the world is going through a difficult stage as a result of the spread of the new Corona mutant or Micron and the great challenges it poses that require intensifying efforts to address the crisis and limit its spread.
“Our programs include developing a real response plan to the crisis, and that the Council issues resolutions and recommendations that serve the peoples of the Arab region,” He said.
Al-Wahaibi added; Saudi Arabia is one of the first countries to take precautionary and preventive measures against the emerging coronavirus, and the Kingdom’s efforts were not limited to the interior but rather contributed to many initiatives to provide support to other countries in facing the pandemic.
The Kingdom appreciated the efforts of the UAE during its presidency of the fortieth session of the Council of Ministers of Development and Social Affairs.
The 41st session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, the Conference of Ministers of Development and Social Affairs, 20 countries, including Egypt, representatives of regional and international organizations, including the World Bank, UNESCO, will also participate in the work of the heads of the executive offices of the specialized Arab ministerial councils for health, youth and sports, and some Heads and directors of specialized Arab organizations, and the activities will continue until next Thursday.
The 41st session will be held under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and this year will discuss ways to recover from the Corona pandemic and support Arab efforts to continue implementing the 2030 sustainable development plan.
