Chinese Consul General in Jeddah Observes Al-Serrian Archaeological Site
Chinese Consul General in Jeddah Wang Qimin has visited the archaeological site of Al-Serrian Port in Al-Lith to have a look at the excavation work that is currently running by a joint Saudi-Chinese team.
The visit has provided Qimin with a brief background about the stages and its main outputs so far, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Consul General stated that the Al-Serrian Port site represented a significant milestone in the history of the Maritime Silk Road.
In the same context, he delved into the strong bilateral relations between China and the Arab world. Then, he wished the team success in their work.

Recently, the Saudi Heritage Commission has signed a significant agreement with China’s National Cultural Heritage Administration.
Consequently, they set an executive program consisting of various stages to fully complete the project.
The initiative primarily aims to increase archaeological excavation efforts at the site and strengthen partnerships with universities and international heritage research centers.

Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in supporting cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and China. It also aligns with efforts of the Ministry of Culture and other cultural entities to unleash new horizons for national heritage.
As one of the most significant landmarks in the Al-Lith governorate, Al-Serrian Port site serves as a critical connection between Arab and Chinese civilizations for more than 2,000 years.
