China, Saudi Arabia agree to further improve bilateral communication& coordination
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, signed the executive work program of the two countries entitled “Political Affairs Committees”.
The two ministers presided over the fourth meeting of the Sino-Saudi High-Level Joint Committee’s Political and Foreign Affairs Committee via video conference on “Thursday.”
The meeting reviewed the two friendly countries’ strong bilateral relations while also discussing ways to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and China.
The meeting was attended by Engineer Walid Al-Khuraiji, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Dr. Saud Al-Sati, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs.
China has now surpassed Saudi Arabia as its most significant trading partner, with economic cooperation and joint projects worth tens of billions of dollars.
Saudi Arabia accounted for 26.3 percent of China’s foreign trade with Arab countries. This trade totaled more than $332 billion in 2021, with the volume of trade exchange between Beijing and Riyadh reaching $87.3 billion.
Saudi Arabia was also the largest oil exporter to China in 2021, with the Kingdom accounting for 17% of total Chinese imports.
