Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit strongly condemned reports that the Somaliland region intends to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem, reaffirming the Arab League’s total rejection of the move.
Aboul Gheit described the proposal as legally invalid and a provocation against both the Arab and Islamic worlds. He said the move reflects attempts by the Israeli occupation to gain recognition from entities lacking international legal status in order to reinforce its unlawful occupation of East Jerusalem.

Finally, he stressed that the step undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, warning that such actions could further escalate tensions and instability in the Horn of Africa. He reiterated the Arab League’s firm support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
