
Saudi Arabia participated in the second Global Summit on Traditional Medicine, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in New Delhi, India, under the theme “Restoring Balance: The Science and Practice of Health and Well-Being.” The participation reflects the kingdom’s expanding role and engagement on the international health stage.
Saudi Arabia was represented by an official delegation that included the Advisor to the Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmad AbuAbah; the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of International Collaboration at the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), Dr. Abdullah Alanazi; and Advisor Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sohbi.

The kingdom’s participation featured a strong and active presence, with Dr. Alanazi selected as a keynote speaker in the scientific session titled “Global Frameworks and Country Implementation.” He also served as a member of the WHO committee responsible for the summit’s proceedings, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s prominent position and advanced expertise in regulating, organizing, and institutionalizing complementary and alternative medicine.

The summit focused on strengthening the integration of traditional medicine within modern healthcare systems, sharing international experiences, and enhancing regulatory and research frameworks.
Finally, these efforts aim to improve the quality of health services and contribute to better global health and well-being.
