Sudan’s President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and Army Chief Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan arrived on Monday in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, welcomed the president and his accompanying delegation upon their arrival at King Khalid International Airport.

The visit comes at a crucial time as peace attempts between Al-Burhan and his one-time deputy, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo, have repeatedly failed during the devastating war that has killed tens of thousands, displaced 12 million and left the world’s largest hunger and displacement crises.
In November, US President Donald Trump began to pay real attention to the Sudanese crisis after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman urged him to intervene and resolve the ongoing bloody conflict that tore the country apart. Trump then pledged to put an end to the war.
