Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned Israel’s repeated calls for the displacement of Palestinians from their land, reiterating its firm support for Egypt’s stance in this regard.
Rejecting Displacement
In a statement on Friday, the Saudi Foreign Ministry expressed the Kingdom’s strong condemnation of the Israeli Prime Minister’s repeated statements advocating the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, including through the Rafah border crossing.
The Kingdom also condemned the continued use of blockade and starvation to impose forced displacement, saying that such actions constitute a flagrant violation of international laws, principles, and the most basic humanitarian standards.
Netanyahu’s Calls
During an interview on Thursday, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, said there were “different plans for Gaza’s reconstruction,” claiming that half of the Strip’s population wants to leave.
“I can open the Rafah crossing for them, but they’ll be blocked immediately by Egypt,” he said, alleging that Israel was “not seeking to expel Palestinians.”
Egypt’s Stance on Displacement
In response, Egypt strongly condemned Netanyahu’s statements, reiterating its rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land under any pretext, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Moreover, Cairo reaffirmed it “will never be a partner in this injustice through the liquidation of the Palestinian cause or by becoming a gateway for displacement,” stressing that this issue remains “an immutable red line.”
Full Support for Egypt
In the light of this, Saudi Arabia emphasized its full support for Egypt‘s stance on this issue.
It also stressed the need for the urgent intervention of the international community, particularly the permanent members of the UN Security Council, to halt Israel’s aggressive policies against the Palestinian people and their land, rejecting any form of displacement under any pretext.
Demanding Accountability
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia renewed its call to hold Israel accountable for the crime of genocide and grave violations against civilians, according to the Foreign Ministry’s statement.
The Kingdom also stressed the urgent need for ending such crimes, protecting the Palestinian people, and fulfilling their legitimate rights to establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with east Jerusalem as its capital, as the only path to ensuring security and stability in the region.
