Saudi Arabia is currently gearing up for the Founding Day celebrations on February 22, 2025. This national occasion commemorates the establishment of the First Saudi State in 1727 by Imam Muhammad bin Saud.

In order to celebrate this commemorative event in a way that mirrors the Kingdom’s ancient heritage, the authorities have set various standards and guidelines.

Public Holiday

According to the Royal Decree, the Founding Day is considered an official holiday in all government and private sectors, including schools and universities.

There is a huge difference between Founding Day and National Day. The Founding Day focuses on the anniversary of the establishment of the first Saudi state in 1727 AD.

Meanwhile, the National Day celebrates the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932 AD.

Accordingly, it is prohibited to use National Day symbols (such as the Saudi flag) in Founding Day celebrations.

The Kingdom will take legal actions against any violation of laws during the celebrations.
