KSrelief Expands Solar-Powered Water Projects in Nigeria and Mali

The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has launched a significant initiative to improve water access in Nigeria. The organization has signed an agreement to drill 21 solar-powered wells across Abuja, Enugu, Kano, Osun, Oyo, and Kaduna.

This project will provide clean drinking water to approximately 105,000 people and support local livestock. Eng. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Baiz, Assistant Supervisor General for Operations and Programs at KSrelief, oversaw the agreement. The wells aim to address water shortages and reduce health risks from contaminated sources.

Recent Inaugurations in Kwara State

In May, KSrelief inaugurated a project in Kwara State, Nigeria, to drill six medium-depth solar-powered water wells. This initiative, completed in partnership with a civil society organization, will serve 30,000 people. Each well, reaching depths of at least 80 meters, is equipped with a 5,000-liter tank. Local beneficiaries have expressed gratitude to KSrelief and Saudi Arabia for this essential support.

Expanding Water Access in Mali

KSrelief has also secured agreements to drill 27 solar-powered wells in Mali, benefiting around 372,000 people. The project will unfold in two phases: the first phase includes drilling 16 wells to 100 meters, one well to 120 meters, and five surface wells to 20-40 meters. The second phase will involve drilling two wells to 100 meters and three surface wells to 20-40 meters.

Ongoing Humanitarian Efforts

These initiatives are part of KSrelief’s extensive humanitarian efforts. Since 2015, the center has carried out 2,829 projects in 98 countries, focusing on sectors like food, education, health, water, sanitation, and shelter.

KSrelief has invested over $6 billion in these efforts, collaborating with 175 partners worldwide. The organization continues to enhance the quality of life and promote sustainable solutions in crisis-affected communities.
