King Saud University (KSU) has achieved a major milestone in global academia, securing the 90th position in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking of World Universities. Established in 1957, KSU improved from its 115th place in the 2023 rankings. This accomplishment highlights KSU’s recognition among the world’s top universities. The ranking is based on rigorous criteria, including research output, educational excellence, and faculty competence.
Strategic Vision and Leadership Support
Yusuf Al-Bunyan, Chairman of KSU’s Board of Directors, attributed this success to Saudi Arabia’s strategic vision. The Kingdom’s emphasis on education, research, development, and innovation has elevated academic and research institutions. This achievement aligns with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s goal to position KSU among the top 10 global universities.
Saudi Universities in the Global Spotlight
Several other Saudi universities has also performed well in the 2024 Shanghai Ranking. King Abdulaziz University and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology ranked between 201-300. Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University placed between 301-400. King Khalid University and Taif University ranked between 401-500. Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University secured a position between 601-700. King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Qassim University, and Umm Al-Qura University ranked between 701-800. King Faisal University ranked between 801-900, while Jazan University placed in the 901-1000 range.
