In collaboration with the Saudi embassy in Ashgabat, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, known as “Darah,” has organized a seminar themed “Arabic manuscripts in Turkmenistan,” reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The event commenced on Wednesday and will run through August 4.
Under the auspicious of the Turkmenistan Minister of Culture Atageldi Shamyradov, the inaugural session highlighted the presence of the Saudi Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Said bin Osman Al-Suwaid; Darah Chief Executive Turki Al-Shuwaier; and the Director of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts in Turkmenistan, Dawud Orazsahedov.
The occasion featured the launch of an impressive exhibition showcasing the heritage of the Two Holy Mosques over time, including the aesthetics of manuscripts and their historical significance.
Shamyradov stated that the current event is a successful outcome of the bilateral cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan and a perfect embodiment of the Kingdom’s distinctive position in Turkmenistan.
The Saudi Ambassador has expressed the depth of the bilateral relations and their keenness to strengthen cultural ties.
Al-Suwaid has commended Darah’s efforts to preserve the documentation of the Kingdom and Islamic history, mentioning the memorandum of cooperation signed between Darah and the Makhdoom Quli Institute.
This MoU stands as a testament to the significance of the cultural aspect in bringing the two countries closer and strengthening cooperative relations.
Furthermore, the ceremony witnessed a documentary film on Saudi-Turkmen relations, and the inauguration of the exhibition “The Two Holy Mosques Through the Ages and the Aesthetics and Rarities of Manuscripts.”
