Since Saudi Arabia has submitted its bid to host the FIFA World Cup 2034, the Kingdom received unwavering support from over 140 countries which emphasized their confidence in Saudi Arabia’s potentials.
A Thriving Moment
Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) President, Yasser Al-Misehal, said that the Kingdom is currently experiencing a thriving moment while preparing to host the largest edition of the World Cup ever held in a single country, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
“There is complete coordination among all government sectors to ensure the success of our bid to host this global event. We will present the best edition in the history of the World Cup in the heart of Saudi Arabia in 2034,” Al-Misehal said at the official news conference on the Saudi bid in Riyadh.
He noted that Saudi Vision 2030 has paved the way for unprecedented accomplishments and unleased new untapped horizons for the Kingdom.
“The World Cup is a great dream for the entire Saudi community,” Al-Misehal added.
In the same context, he expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and his Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their unwavering support to the sports sector.
Intensified Preparations
Through a visual presentation, the conference showcased Saudi Arabia’s bid book to host the 2034 World Cup, the most prominent cities and stadiums that will host the event (5 diverse host cities and 15 world-class stadiums), and plans for the railway network between the regions of the Kingdom and the Gulf countries.
Al-Misehal indicated that the new stadiums will serve future generations, and the 2027 Asian Cup in the Kingdom will be a golden opportunity to test some of those stadiums.
The Journey Has Begun
The head of the bid committee for the 2034 World Cup at the SAFF, Hammad Al-Balawi, stated that the 10-year journey has already begun, and the Kingdom would impress the world by hosting this worldwide tournament alone.
Al-Balawi stressed that the bid enjoys an unprecedented support from the Saudi leadership and will offer several job opportunities to the Saudi youth.
Furthermore, he clarified that the opening and final matches of the 2034 World Cup will be held in Riyadh, and the furthest distance a fan can travel within the Kingdom is just two hours.
As part of the evaluation process, a FIFA team will soon visit the Kingdom to review the hosting cities.
Official Submission
Saudi Arabia officially submitted its bid to FIFA to host the FIFA World Cup 2034 on Monday, according to SPA. The submission took place at a ceremony hosted by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) in Paris, France.
Saudi Arabia’s official bid book was submitted by a prestigious delegation consisting of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), and Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) President, Yasser Al-Misehal, and two children from the SAFF youth regional training centers.
The participation of the two children is part of a promising initiative by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation to accurately crystalize the Saudi youth’s ambition to host the greatest football event all over the world.
Crown Prince’s Endorsement
The submission came after the endorsement of the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman marking the actual conclusion of the bid’s requirements and conditions before the bid book submission to FIFA.
“Saudi Arabia’s bid to host the World Cup 2034 is a bid for the future. The Kingdom aims to host the most important event in the world of football, which would reaffirm its influential position on the global stage across various fields, including sports,” Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki said.
