Flynas Reports Record Half-year Passenger Growth in 2024

Flynas, the Saudi air carrier and the leading low-cost airline in the Middle East, has recorded a growth of 47% in passenger numbers, to exceed 7 million passengers, in the first half of 2024, according to the company’s press release.

Furthermore, the Saudi airline has recorded a 37% increase in seat capacity for domestic and international flights in the first half of 2024, compared to the same period in 2023. This comes a few days after announcing the purchase of 160 Airbus Aircraft in a landmark deal.

Flynas Successful Strategy

Commenting on these record-breaking results, the CEO and Managing Director of flynas, Bander Almohanna, said: “Our record performance during the first half of 2024 is driven by our strategic growth plans as we continue to upgrade our fleet, increase capacity, and expand our global network.”

He pointed to the pivotal role of the company’s strategy “We Connect the World to the Kingdom,” saying it aligns with “the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy to enable national air carriers to connect the Kingdom with 250 International destinations, accommodate 330 million passengers, and to host 100 million tourists annually by 2030.”

Almohanna added: “Our strategy will also play a key part in driving the objectives of the Pilgrims Experience Program (PEP) to facilitate access to the Two Holy Mosques, successfully transporting more than 100,000 pilgrims from 20 countries in the first half of the year.”

Commitment to Vision 2030

Moreover, Almohanna said that increasing seat capacity to domestic destinations reflects flynas’ commitment to promoting its role as a national carrier in supporting and empowering the Saudi tourism sector. It also confirms its commitment to achieving its ambitious objectives outlined in Vision 2030, in cooperation with relevant authorities in the tourism and aviation sectors.

In terms of international flights, Almohanna noted that flynas increased its presence in key domestic, regional, and international markets, including partnerships with other airlines to expand the company’s network.

During 2024, flynas has received 6 A320neo aircraft which “reinforced our operations, and created hundreds of new jobs for Saudis and opened applications for a new batch to the Future Pilots program, aiming to nationalize the co-pilot position in flynas by 100%,” said Almohanna.

He added that the Future Engineers Program has accepted 22 Saudis into its second batch at the beginning of 2024, contributing to nationalizing the roles in aircraft engineering and maintenance.

Flynas Expansion

Flynas connects over 70 domestic and international destinations through more than 1800 weekly flights. Since its launch in 2007, the Saudi low-cost carrier has flown more than 78 million passengers.

The expansion of the leading low-cost carrier’s fleet by adding 25 new A320neo aircraft over the last 18 months is an important milestone in the aviation industry. This strategic development increases flynas’ fleet to 60 planes, underlining a steady progress towards achieving its ambitious, growth-oriented strategic goals.
