King Saud University to Host “Camels in Arab Culture” Conference

King Saud University (KSU) is set to host the fifth international conference on camels in Arab culture on December 30 and 31, in alignment with the Ministry of Culture’s proclamation of 2024 as the Year of the Camel.
The conference, organized by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, aims to explore the rich cultural significance of camels throughout the history of the Arabian Peninsula, from ancient times to the present day.
Moreover, as part of the Year of the Camel initiative, the Ministry seeks to promote the value of camels and their integral role in the Saudi identity.
Collaborating with partners, the Ministry aims to advance national efforts in developing the camel sector and enhancing its contribution to national development.
Furthermore, the conference intends to amplify the cultural and literary presence of camels both locally and globally, affirming their deep-rooted status in Arab culture.
Additionally, researchers from Saudi Arabia and abroad have been invited by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature to participate in the conference and submit research abstracts through the conference website. The submission deadline is September 15.
