Saudi Arabia Highlights Efforts at International Year of Camelids Exhibition
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is showcasing its international efforts to develop the camel sector and highlight its economic importance, through the Saudi Exhibition for the International Year of Camelids 2024, reported Saudi Press Agency.
The exhibition is held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in the Italian capital, Rome, from June 10 – 14.
The Kingdom’s participation in the Council meeting comes as part of its presidency of the International Year of Camelids 2024 in partnership with the Group of Latin American and Caribbean Countries (GRULAC), represented by the State of Bolivia.
The Saudi exhibition will also highlight the most prominent transformative camel products that are manufactured locally and its importance in achieving food security in the Kingdom. In addition, it will review the many medical benefits of these products.
International Camel Parade in Paris
Moreover, Saudi Arabia took part in the International Camel Parade in Paris, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The French Federation for Camel Development in France and Europe organized the parade, in celebration of the United Nations designation of 2024 “The Year of Camelids.”
The Saudi Ministry of Culture and the Camel Club in Saudi Arabia sponsored the event. The Ministry’s participation aimed to promote international cultural exchange as one of the strategic objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Various international camel-related organizations and federations, including government officials, camel breeders and enthusiasts participated in the parade.
The parade aimed to highlight camels as a cultural symbol associated with Saudi society. It showcased the “Year of the Camel 2024” initiative in the Kingdom to the international community.
