Eid al-Fitr celebrations vary from one country to another, and are united by Muslims’ adherence to famous customs and traditions that express the aspects of their celebration in ways that have been passed down through generations.

Muslims usually celebrate Eid with cakes, the right to salt, free wrestling, and visiting cemeteries. Below is a review of the most famous and strangest customs around the world to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, according to what was published in “Sky News.”

In the Comoros, Eid al-Fitr celebrations include unique customs like freestyle wrestling and sports competitions; people compete for championship cups and Eid gifts amid weddings and special events, making it an official holiday for exchanging visits.

Another famous custom in Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria is “the right to salt and the takbeer,” announcing Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Preparations for Eid begin joyfully with the preparation of sweets. This custom involves husbands giving gifts to their wives, such as henna or gold, as a token of appreciation, placed in a cup of coffee or on a piece of cloth, to make them happy on the morning of Eid al-Fitr.

Among the most important foods on Eid al-Fitr in Morocco: Moroccan sweets, smoothies, pies, kaab al-ghazal, and briwats. In Morocco, both men and women, are keen to wear the traditional Moroccan dress represented by the ‘djellaba’, ‘jallabadur’, and ‘kandura’.

The Jordanian ‘Mansaf’ and ‘Eidiya’ are among the most famous ceremonies for celebrating Eid al-Fitr in Jordan. There is a great demand for the most famous Jordanian dish, which is “mansaf,” the main dish among Jordanians.

North Africans celebrate Eid al-Fitr by announcing the beginning of the Eid days with drums, chants, and supplications. After the end of the Eid prayer, they go to visit the cemeteries on the first day of the Eid, and then celebrate with sweets especially mixed sweets, mahookah, and marble sweets.
