Small, Medium-Sized Enterprises Witness Rapid Growth

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Saudi Arabia experienced rapid growth during the third quarter of 2023, increasing by 3.5% on a quarterly basis. The number of these enterprises reached 1.27 million. This growth is attributed to concerted efforts and government support aimed at developing the private sector and the confidence of investors in the Saudi economic system, reported Saudi Press Agency.

Number of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises All Over Kingdom

The total number of small and medium-sized enterprises in the Riyadh region reached 549,346, representing 43% of the total Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In the Mecca region, the number was 232,039 enterprises, accounting for 18.3%. The Eastern region had 136,689 SMEs, making up 10.8% of the total. Meanwhile, the total number of SMEs in the other regions of the Kingdom amounted to 351,190, constituting 27.7%.

It is noted that the number of micro-enterprises reached 1.1 million, small enterprises totaled 151,170, and medium-sized enterprises were 18,176.

These positive outcomes of Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) bolster Saudi Arabia’s role in becoming a comprehensive regional and industrial hub. They contribute to diversifying the Saudi economy and achieving sustainability, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
