SDB to host UN Empretec Meeting in Riyadh

The Social Development Bank (SDB) has recently announced that it will be hosting the United Nations’ annual Empretec meeting in Riyadh. This event, scheduled to take place between October 21 and 22, is a significant gathering for entrepreneurs interested in private sector enablers, emerging technology sectors, logistics, and global best practices. With the theme “From Geneva to Riyadh,” the SDB aims to strengthen its role in supporting entrepreneurship, small enterprises, and social services in alignment with the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 programs.

Importance of the Event

The annual Empretec meeting serves as a platform for entrepreneurs to exchange ideas, gain insights into emerging trends, and explore opportunities for collaboration. By hosting this event, the SDB aims to enhance the local and global capacities of entrepreneurs, contributing to the improvement of the community’s quality of life and the creation of an attractive job market.

Role of the Social Development Bank

The Social Development Bank plays a vital role in supporting the development of entrepreneurs, owners of small enterprises, and citizens benefiting from social services. With the provision of development funds amounting to SAR 2.3 billion, the SDB has already assisted over 39,000 beneficiaries across various sectors. These funds have enabled entrepreneurs to realize their aspirations, implement their projects, and contribute to the sustainable development goals of the Kingdom.

Moreover, the SDB’s commitment to entrepreneurship is further demonstrated through its collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in hosting the annual meeting of directors of EMPRETEC centers. EMPRETEC centers are specialized training centers established by UNCTAD to support the development of entrepreneurship worldwide.

The upcoming meeting in Riyadh will bring together directors from EMPRETEC centers around the world to share best practices, discuss private sector enablers, explore emerging technology sectors, and highlight global logistics trends. This exchange of knowledge and experiences will help entrepreneurs capitalize on current opportunities and navigate challenges in an ever-evolving business landscape.
