Reuters: Aramco Weighs New Gas Division, Potential Unit Listings

Saudi Aramco is considering a broad restructuring of its business that would include establishing a dedicated gas division, according to sources cited by Reuters. The move comes as the company explores options for raising capital, including the possible future listing of stakes in some of its business units.

Under the proposed structure, Aramco would shift from its current two-segment model—upstream and downstream—to a three-division structure. Each division would be led by its own president.
The company is also examining alternative financing options, including lease-and-leaseback arrangements. Under such agreements, assets are leased to investors in return for an upfront payment and then leased back by the company, which retains operational control while paying usage fees over an agreed period.

The sources said Aramco was also considering the potential listing of a minority stake in its gas business as one option for raising funds. The proposed division would create a dedicated platform for developing the company’s domestic natural gas resources and expanding its international liquefied natural gas portfolio.
