Jordan and Venezuela signed a set of deals, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding ties across multiple sectors, during Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil’s visit to the kingdom, according to Arab News.
This visit marked the first trip by a Venezuelan foreign minister to Jordan in more than seven decades of diplomatic ties.
In a remarkable meeting with King Abdullah II in Amman, Gil discussed bilateral ties, prospects for increasing cooperation in multiple sectors, as well as the latest regional and international developments.
In separate talks, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with Gil and they agreed to direct relevant institutions in both countries toward expanding collaboration across a range of sectors, including agriculture, energy, investment, pharmaceuticals, tourism, information technology and culture.
A Series of Agreements
Both ministers also signed four agreements and memoranda of understanding focused on agricultural cooperation, coordination of political consultations between the two foreign ministries, academic collaboration between diplomatic institutes, and the formation of a joint committee.

Furthermore, Jordan and Venezuela stated that discussions are underway to complete additional agreements concerning investment protection, double taxation and mutual visa exemptions.
At the same time, Gil said Venezuela is seeking to foster cooperation with Jordan in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, technology, transport and agriculture, describing the kingdom as a significant strategic partner in the region.
He also lauded Jordan’s role in maintaining regional stability and extended congratulations to the kingdom on the occasion of its 80th Independence Day.
Safadi said the visit marked “a new beginning” in Jordanian-Venezuelan relations, emphasizing that both countries are committed to boosting bilateral ties and enhancing economic cooperation.
Apart from this, the meeting also delved into regional developments and ongoing to de-escalate tensions and restore stability across the Middle East, with Safadi reaffirming Jordan’s support for joint initiatives to ease tensions.
